The main reason for the global rise in prices is the anti-Russian sanctions of the West, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
The speaker published the corresponding post on May 14 in her own Telegram channel. This is how she reacted to the statement of the head of the German Foreign Ministry Annalen Burbock about Russia’s alleged responsibility for the food crisis.
Earlier, the German minister during a press conference said that because of the situation in Ukraine, a global famine could occur. In her opinion, the “blockade of food exports” is deliberate and can be called part of the “hybrid war”.
“Prices are rising due to sanctions imposed by the collective West, under pressure from the United States. This is if we talk about the direct reason. Failure to understand this is a sign of either stupidity or deliberate misleading of the public, ”Zakharova stated.
She also stressed that in a broad context, the root cause of the current situation was the collapse of the statehood of Ukraine, which was also the result of the policy of the collective West.
“Ms. Burbock’s predecessors are also involved in it, who not only interfered in the situation in this country, but modeled Ukraine’s domestic and foreign policy in manual mode,” the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
Note that the impending global food crisis has become even more real in recent days due to unfulfilled hopes for India.
It was this country that was supposed to fill the gap in the global supply of wheat, formed due to the ongoing armed conflict in Ukraine.
As reported EADaily, earlier the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India introduced a ban on the export of wheat, which has already entered into force on May 14. This measure is designed to maintain control over the domestic market against the backdrop of a jump in world prices.
