The European Commission intends to simplify the process of confiscation of illegally acquired property, Vice-President of the European Commission Margaritis Sinhas said in an interview with Welt am Sonntag. “In the near future, the European Commission will submit a proposal to modernize the existing legal procedures in the EU for the confiscation and restoration of property values in order to help national authorities identify, freeze, recover and manage illegally obtained property,” he said. According to him, the current measures are not effective enough.
