Two Russian companies, LUKOIL (MCX:LKOH) and Gazprom (MCX:GAZP), are among the top five oil and gas brands in the world in 2022, according to a ranking compiled by consulting company Brand Finance.
LUKOIL took second place in the list with a rating of 87.4 points on the brand strength index, Gazprom came fifth with a score of 85.9 points. In first place is the Malaysian company Petronas with a score of 87.7 points. The top five also included Brazilian Petrobras and Thai PTT.
Relative brand strength is calculated by a company across a range of metrics including marketing investment, operating results, and stakeholder relationships (from employees, suppliers, and shareholders to governments and civil society organizations).
At the same time, British-Dutch Shell (SPB: RDS.A) again leads in terms of another indicator – the high cost of the brand. The cost of its name was estimated by Brand Finance analysts at $49.9 billion, which is 18% more than a year earlier. Saudi Aramco (TADAWUL:2222) held second place with a 16% increase in brand value to $43.6 billion.
Among the other companies in the top five, there were also no changes: PetroChina (SS:601857) ($29.7 billion) was in third place, Sinopec was in fourth ($25.2 billion), and BP Plc (LON:BP) was in fifth ($19). billion).
Petronas moved up to eighth place with $13.6 billion, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) to ninth ($12.8 billion). American Exxon Mobil (NYSE:XOM) dropped to tenth place with a brand value of $11.2 billion.
