All decisions in NATO are taken by consensus. For a country to join NATO, the consent of all countries that are already members of this alliance is required.
Trades are up.
Erdogan has already stated that the PKK operates in Finland and Sweden. He also pointed out that representatives of the PKK, which is recognized as a terrorist organization in Turkey, “are even members of parliament in some countries.” And if so, then here’s a Turkish doner kebab instead of NATO.
The Sultan does not like the idea of Finland and Sweden joining the alliance. Erdogan will now have to be persuaded. His boundless Wishlist will begin with the American F-35 and further down the list.
In general, the desire of Finland and Sweden to become part of NATO may not be enough. We need the consent of others. Or Turkey will have to be excluded from NATO.
